Heather Shelton BSN, Retired Nurse and Herbalist

I am a retired registered nurse and herbalist with more than 20 years experience.  My family and I lived on a farm and homestead in rural Vermont for 15 years, raising all of our own food and medicine.

As an herbalist specializing in cannabis therapeutics,  I provide individualized support and guidance for those interested in using herbs for health improvement.  I earned a Bachelors degree in nursing and have spent the last two decades studying, using, and assisting others with plant medicine.  I apprenticed for two years with Rosemary Gladstar who many call the “fairy godmother of herbalism”.

I have a wide variety of experience ranging from 10 years in emergency nursing to home health care, which includes supporting families in birth and death, and all stages in between.  I am committed to quality of life at all stages and advocate for my patients to decrease their suffering and improve their health.

I have a recipe in Rosemary Gladstar’s new book for Fire Cider!

What is an herbalist

At the current time, herbalists serve primarily as educators and advocates for their patients. For example, herbalists can help patients use plants and herbs in a way that maximizes their benefits. Many individuals who wish to use plants and herbs may also be taking one or more prescription medications, and herbalists with nursing backgrounds can work with patients in identifying possible drug interactions.
